The land where the trees stand, the olive ripens and the oil flows
The special thing about the Greek Mani is its unspoiled nature. Far from major roads, the landscape is blessed with thousands of olive trees. Olives grow as high as the Taigetos - which makes harvesting both more beautiful and more difficult for the farmers. Often the olive groves can only be reached by small trails, which also affects the quality of the oil. In the harvest months, families move together, tend the trees and harvest the olives - because their own olive oil is for most of the Greek families in the Mani a matter of course.
The olives are brought to the mill on the day of harvest and processed directly. This is a prerequisite for a good oil!
